Bol – the champion of Croatian Tourism in 2009 and in 2010

Bol was crowned the Champion of Croatian tourism for two years in a row, in 2009 and in 2010 and Croatian Prime minister Jadranka Kosor presented officials of Bol municipality with the award "Tourism Flower-Quality for Croatia" as the overall winner of the tourist season twice, last year in Bol and this year in Rovinj, during the Croatian Tourism Days.

The Croatian Tourism Days is an event which is held every year at the end of the summer tourist season in Croatia. At this event awards are given to coastal and inland tourist destinations and companies and individuals working in the tourism sector.

This award is very important in the tourism world, it is considered to be a kind of touristic Oscar award, and Bol town and its people are very proud of it, since it has been awarded to them by the tourism professionals in Croatia, who are monitoring the quality of services, accommodation, environment and improvements done in the tourist destinations in Croatia every year.

Bol had 429.307 tourist overnights in 2010, which is an increase of 2% in comparison to last year's result. Austria remained Bol's top international tourism visitor with over 87.000 overnights, followed by Germany and Slovenia. Since Croatia wants to position itself on the international tourist market as an environmentally friendly destination and as one of the leading tourist countries in the Mediterranean, the Tourist Board of Bol predicts further growth of international tourist arrivals in 2011.
